Koshiarasawa Weir
Canal
This canal was constructed to guarantee a water supply for daily life, but later it came to be used for irrigation. Using natural stone and running against a backdrop of the Northern Alps, the canal is home to fish like char and sculpin that favor clear streams, and it creates a rich natural environment, with Japanese luehdorfia, a kind of swallowtail butterfly, fluttering around it. “Midori Net Omachi Local Water Measures Council” holds nature watching events and conservation efforts, which endears it to the local people.
