Kinagashi River

Canal

Kinagashi River村

Excavated at the end of the Edo Period, the river’s name, which means “wood flowing downstream,” is said to come from the practice of floating firewood and lumber down the river. You can also see Alpine plants that are rare in the flatlands, and the area is protected as part of the region’s inheritance. Through conservation efforts mainly by the “Association to Get to Know the Kinagashi River” and improvements made by the prefectural water environment improvement project concerned with the landscape, environment, and ecosystem, this has become a place to learn about the importance and beauty of nature.
